Introdução: O câncer é uma das principais causas de morte e uma barreira importante para o aumento da expectativa de vida em todos os países do mundo. A quimioterapia antineoplásica é uma modalidade de tratamento na qual são utilizados medicamentos com a finalidade de destruição de células em mutação que formam o tumor ou se multiplicam desordenadamente. Durante a assistência ao paciente oncológico, um aspecto fundamental a ser considerado é a necessidade da integralidade e da humanização das ações prestadas pelos profissionais de saúde aos pacientes e familiares. Assim, o acolhimento representa a principal estratégia de humanização da assistência de enfermagem ao paciente oncológico. Objetivos: Desenvolver o protótipo de um protocolo eletrônico de acolhimento do paciente oncológico em tratamento quimioterápico ambulatorial. Método: Trata-se de um estudo metodológico realizado no Ambulatório de Quimioterapia de um hospital público, geral e de porte IV localizado na região metropolitana de Belém, capital do Estado do Pará. A população foi representada pelos trabalhadores de enfermagem que atuam no Ambulatório de Quimioterapia do referido hospital. Fizeram parte da amostra um total de dez trabalhadores de enfermagem, sendo quatro enfermeiros e seis técnicos de enfermagem. Como referencial metodológico, foram utilizadas três etapas preconizadas pelo Human-Centred Design (HCD): 1) compreensão e especificação do contexto de uso; 2) especificação dos requisitos do usuário; 3) produção de soluções de design. A avaliação do protótipo não foi realizada até o momento. Resultados: Na etapa inicial, a especificação do contexto de uso do protocolo foi definida após revisão da literatura e análise das atividades realizadas e do contexto vivenciado pelos trabalhadores de enfermagem que atuam no ambulatório. Durante a etapa de especificação dos requisitos dos usuários, foram realizadas entrevistas individuais com os participantes do grupo de trabalho com o objetivos de caracterizar as dificuldades e as facilidades dos enfermeiros e técnicos de enfermagem relacionadas à utilização de um protocolo de acolhimento na unidade e identificar as atividades realizadas pelos enfermeiros relacionadas ao acolhimento do paciente. Na etapa de produção de soluções de design, foi desenvolvido o protótipo do protocolo de acolhimento, sendo realizada: revisão da literatura, com o objetivo de identificar as principais necessidades dos pacientes em tratamento quimioterápico e a importância do acolhimento na assistência de enfermagem; elaboração da primeira versão do protótipo, a qual foi apresentada aos participantes em encontros individuais e, num processo iterativo, sucessivos encontros foram ocorrendo e o protótipo foi elaborado. Considerações finais: Acredita-se que este material representa um recurso simples, de fácil aplicação e baixo custo, sendo capaz de facilitar a comunicação da equipe de enfermagem e multiprofissional do Ambulatório. Ainda, considera-se que a utilização do Protocolo Eletrônico de Acolhimento do Paciente em Tratamento Quimioterápico Ambulatorial elaborado na presente investigação poderá oferecer como principais benefícios: padronização das ações realizadas pela equipe de enfermagem; registro de informações do paciente de modo mais seguro e ágil; maior sistematização e segurança ao trabalho dos enfermeiros, técnicos e auxiliares de enfermagem durante a assistência. Finalmente, acredita-se que o uso desta tecnologia possibilitará a implementação de ações voltadas à humanização das relações entre profissionais de enfermagem e usuários e melhoria da qualidade da assistência prestada ao paciente oncológico em tratamento quimioterápico ambulatorial. Introduction: Cancer is one of the main causes of death and an important barrier to increasing life expectancy in all countries of the world. Antineoplastic chemotherapy is a treatment modality in which drugs are used for the purpose of destroying mutating cells that form the tumor or multiply without control. During assistance to cancer patients, a fundamental aspect to be considered is the need for comprehensive health care and humanization of actions provided by health professionals to patients and families. Thus, user embracement represents the main humanization strategy of oncology nursing care. Objective: To develop the prototype of an Electronic Protocol for Patient Embracement in Outpatient Chemotherapy Treatment. Method: This is a methodological study carried out at the Chemotherapy Outpatient Clinic of a public, general hospital located in the metropolitan region of Belém, capital of the State of Pará, Brazil. The population was represented by nursing workers who work in the Chemotherapy Outpatient Clinic of the aforementioned hospital. A total of ten nursing workers were part of the sample, four nurses and six nursing technicians. As a methodological reference, three steps recommended by Human-Centred Design (HCD) were used: 1) understanding and specifying the context of use; 2) specification of user requirements; 3) production of design solutions. The evaluation of the prototype has not been carried out so far. Results: In the initial stage, the context of use specification of the protocol was defined after reviewing the literature and analyzing the activities carried out and the context experienced by the nursing workers who work in the outpatient clinic. During the user requirements specification stage, individual interviews were conducted with the participants of the work group in order to characterize the difficulties and facilities of nurses and nursing technicians related to the use of a user embracement protocol in the unit and to identify the activities carried out by nurses related to patient care. In the stage of producing design solutions, the prototype of the Electronic Protocol for Patient Embracement in Outpatient Chemotherapy Treatment was developed, with the following being carried out: a literature review, with the objective of identifying the main needs of patients undergoing chemotherapy and the importance of embracement in nursing care; elaboration of the first version of the prototype, which was presented to the participants in individual meetings and, in an iterative process, successive meetings took place and the prototype was elaborated. Final considerations: It is believed that this material represents a simple resource, easy to apply and low cost, being able to facilitate the communication of the nursing and multidisciplinary team of the Ambulatory. Besides, it is considered that the use of the Electronic Protocol for Patient Embracement in Outpatient Chemotherapy Treatment elaborated in the present investigation may offer the following main benefits: standardization of the actions performed by the nursing team; recording patient information in a safer and more agile way; greater systematization and safety for the work of nurses, technicians and nursing assistants during care. Finally, it is believed that the use of this technology will enable the implementation of actions aimed at humanizing relationships between nursing professionals and users and improving the quality of care provided to cancer patients undergoing outpatient chemotherapy treatment.
