Abstract in English
Objective: To identify and synthesize the scientific knowledge produced regarding the quality of life of people living with HIV/hepatitis B (Phase 1) and HIV/hepatitis C (Phase 2) coinfection. Methods: This is an integrative review guided by the questions "How are the quality of life of people living with HIV / AIDS and hepatitis B coinfection?" and How are the quality of life of people living with HIV / AIDS and hepatitis C coinfection? ". The PECO strategy was used to select descriptors in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, allowing the bibliographic search in the EMBASE, SCOPUS, PUBMED, CINAHL, Academic Search Premier, SocINDEX, and LILACS databases. 1,243 publications were identified, 551 were excluded due to duplication, 687 after reading titles and abstracts and two after reading in full, including three articles in Phase 1. In phase 2, 1,043 publications were identified, of which 214 were excluded due to duplication, 795 after reading titles and abstracts, and 19 after reading in full, including 15 articles in this review. Results: The quality of life of people living with HIV / hepatitis B was assessed using different instruments, preventing a quantitative synthesis of their results. In two studies, scores close to 50 (within a range of zero to 100) were found in relation to the physical and mental components. Another study showed scores also close to 50 in the dimensions of physical functioning and subjective feelings. The quality of life of people with HIV / hepatitis B coinfection does not differ from people monoinfected by HIV and those coinfected by HIV / Hepatitis C, however, it is worse over time. In studies related to the quality of life of people coinfected with HIV / hepatitis C, 13 scales were used, and all studies (100%) evaluated mental aspects, 11 (84.6%) evaluated physical aspects, 11 (84.6% %) social aspects, 8 (61.5%) pain and 5 (38.5%) general health perception. In these studies, the physical and mental domains were the most affected. In these studies, the physical and mental domains were the most affected. When compared to people monoinfected by HIV or hepatitis C, people coinfected by HIV / hepatitis C also had a worse quality of life. Conclusions: The study showed that the population of coinfected HIV/hepatitis B and HIV/hepatitis C have their quality of life impaired in both physical and mental aspects, therefore, the QOL approach of coinfected should be implemented in health services to contribute to the reframing of living with two chronic diseases and redirecting assistance to the aspects most affected by these people.
