Abstract in English
The puerperium is a period with several physical, emotional and sociocultural adaptations that can alter female sexual function and bring repercussions for breastfeeding. The interface between breastfeeding and sexuality requires a singularized look at puerperal care, as it can cause negative impacts to the lactation process. This study aimed to verify the repercussions of maternal self-efficacy on sexual satisfaction among puerpery women. This is an analytical, longitudinal and prospective study, developed in a basic health unit in the city of Ribeirão Preto - SP. Data collection occurred from October 2018 to November 2019, and included 156 women participating in three distinct moments: at two, four and six months after delivery. For data collection, four instruments were used: a questionnaire with sociodemographic and obstetric identification and characterization data; the Female Sexual Function Index - FSFI to assess sexual satisfaction; Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale - Short-Form to assess maternal confidence in breastfeeding; and a questionnaire about the type of breastfeeding of the child. For data analysis, the program was used Statistical Analysis System SAS® 9.4. The results showed that most women were between 18 and 25 years old, had a steady partner and declared themselves brown. It was identified that most participants presented high self-efficacy in the three moments, being 76.9%, 75.5% and 76.4%, respectively. In the first two moments 67.9% and 51.1% of the women were exclusively breastfed, in addition, the majority presented preserved sexual satisfaction at all times, being 59.6%, 58.6% and 54.1%. There was no statistically significant association between sexual satisfaction and maternal self-efficacy. However, in the third moment, it was identified that women who had a high self-efficacy are associated with preserved sexual function. The results also show that there was a significant association between the sexual satisfaction domain and the age of women, and in the first (60.2%) and second (58.8%) at the time the age group between 18 and 25 years obtained a more preserved sexual satisfaction than those aged between 26 and 43 years. It is observed that there were no statistical repercussions of self-efficacy on the sexual satisfaction of puerperal women, however, it is known that the variables analyzed are permeated by several characteristics that should be analyzed concomitantly.
