Montes Submarinos
Produtividade primária

Abstract in English
This work presents the analysis of biogeochemical data obtained in two cruises carried out on the Vitória-Trindade seamount chain, one in summer and one in winter of 2017. Microbial biomass analysis by ow cytometry, primary productivity by C14, nutrients and CTD releases were performed. The results showed that biomass ranged from 14.0 to 69.2 gC.m/2 in summer and 16.0 to 45.0 gC.m/2 in winter. Primary productivity in the vicinity of the chain was 0.2 to 0.7 gC/m2/day in summer and 0.1 to 3.0 gC/m2/day in winter. Differences were observed between microbial community and primary productivity between seasons, strongly influenced by the state of stratification of the water column in the euphotic zone, and in diferent sectors of the chain. It was concluded that the seamounts of the Vitória-Trindade chain can extend the biogeochemical conditions of the continental shelf to the oceanic region.
