O presente trabalho pretende investigar as demandas por reconhecimento empreendidas pelos movimentos feministas contemporâneos. Nos espaços públicos ou privados, nacionais ou transnacionais, institucionais ou líquidos, a luta pelos direitos das mulheres tem sido constante. Na travessia em direção à reconstrução dos papéis de gênero, outras diferenças como de sexualidade, raça, classe, geração, entre outros marcadores sociais da diferença, devem ser consideradas. A hipótese do presente trabalho é: em que medida as lutas feministas por reconhecimento afetam a efetividade dos direitos humanos hoje, em particular no Brasil. O exame do direito e, em especial, dos direitos humanos sob uma lente de gênero implica investigar os déficits de igualdade e justiça. Os desafios da luta feminista, a eficácia dos direitos humanos e a consolidação da democracia no Brasil serão objetos de estudo do presente trabalho. Se no início do século XXI ainda estamos distantes de resolver questões básicas de desigualdade de gênero, ao menos o discurso tem sido afetado por correntes do feminismo, seja na academia, na militância ou na mídia. Tratar do feminino no espaço público democrático implica reconhecimento e interseccionalidade. A escolha das contribuições críticas ao debate feminista contemporâneo de NANCY FRASER, AXEL HONNETH, JUDITH BUTLER e SEYLA BENHABIB se baseou em suas relações com o conceito de "reconhecimento". A luta pelos direitos das mulheres no Brasil e em regiões específicas do Ocidente será também objeto de estudo. A análise histórica é necessária para entendermos os processos de formação e transformação dos movimentos feministas e suas consequências. Quanto à pesquisa no campo dos direitos humanos, serão consultadas normas de direito internacional público pertinentes ao tema, a fim de examinar como tais documentos jurídicos buscam afirmar as conquistas de direitos das mulheres.

The present work intends to investigate the demands for recognition undertaken by contemporary feminist movements. In the public or private spaces, national or transnational, institutional or liquid, the struggle for the rights of women has been constant. In the transition towards the reconstruction of gender roles, other differences such as sexuality, race, class, generation, among other social markers of difference, must be considered. The hypothesis of the present work is: to what extent feminist recognition struggles affect the effectiveness of human rights today, particularly in Brazil. Examining the law and, in particular, human rights under a gender lens means investigating the deficits of equality and justice. The challenges of the feminist struggle, the effectiveness of human rights and the consolidation of democracy in Brazil will be objects of study of the present work. If we are still far from solving basic issues of gender inequality in the beginning of the twenty-first century, at least the discourse has been affected by currents of feminism, whether in academia, militancy or the media. Treating the feminine in the democratic public space implies recognition and intersectionality. The choice of critical contributions to the contemporary feminist debate of NANCY FRASER, AXEL HONNETH, JUDITH BUTLER and SEYLA BENHABIB was based on their relationship to the concept of "recognition". The struggle for women's rights in Brazil and in specific regions of the West will also be the subject of study. Historical analysis is necessary to understand the processes of formation and transformation of feminist movements and their consequences. Concerning research in the field of human rights, public international law norms pertinent to the subject will be consulted in order to examine how such legal documents seek to affirm the achievements of women's rights.
