Abstract in English
This research aims at providing a point of view on the current workers immigration to Brazil, regarding the acknowledgement and grant of minimum guarantees the country makes available to these immigrants in order to avoid making them vulnerable to live as slaves. The analysis starts with an historic content focusing on the similarities between the first relevant immigration to Brazil and the one taking place currently. The Brazilian people formation, the relation between slavery and capitalism in Brazil, the substitution of slaves for immigrants and the conditions the immigrants experienced are evidence of a country that was not committed to provide social protections to these workers. After a hundred years, some immigrants suffer conditions similar to those of the past. Understanding these two moments and verifying the protections currently reaching out to these workers reveal the need to give more attention to social issues regarding immigration.
