A expansão do movimento evangélico na cidade repercute no crescimento e visibilidade que toma a organização evangélica na prisão. Se, por um lado, as referências religiosas não são novidade no universo carcerário, por outro, a disseminação de cultos e a separação dos evangélicos nas unidades prisionais chama atenção. Com esta pesquisa, procurou-se compreender as representações do papel da Igreja evangélica na prisão. A partir da lente oferecida pela Criminologia Clínica de Inclusão Social, investigou-se o contexto em que está inserido o preso evangélico para buscar entender as dimensões do papel da Igreja para ele, avaliando qual a conotação do pertencimento religioso. A partir do marco teórico adotado, que indica a necessidade de uma aproximação entre sociedade livre e sociedade encarcerada por meio de projetos de reintegração social que visam ao desenvolvimento de uma autonomia moral e à construção de uma personalidade ética assentada em um projeto de valorização de si mesmo, analisaram-se as histórias e projetos de vida de presos evangélicos. Para isso, foram realizadas entrevistas com internos da Colônia Penal Industrial de Maringá e da Casa de Custódia de Maringá, unidades prisionais localizadas no Estado do Paraná. As entrevistas foram analisadas individualmente e divididas em categorias que destacam as mudanças decorrentes da conversão, as regras e a rotina do espaço evangélico, a vigilância e a vulnerabilidade dos evangélicos, bem como as relações entre Igreja, facção e direção. As evidências empíricas apontam que, na prisão, os evangélicos se situam entre a desconfiança de funcionários e detentos em geral e a credibilidade por não traírem a facção nem darem trabalho para a administração. As entrevistas também indicam que os evangélicos precisam se submeter a um rígido código de conduta e a um intenso controle por parte de todos os atores do universo prisional, mas, principalmente, da massa carcerária. No entanto, a conversão pode proporcionar a ressignificação da própria história e a busca pela expansão de si alicerçada em um projeto de vida boa. Neste sentido, os dados mostram a ambivalência da identidade evangélica na prisão, que ao mesmo tempo em que é desmoralizada e controlada, pode devolver ao preso o controle de sua vida.

The expansion of the urban Evangelical movement resulted in the growth and visibility of the Evangelical organization in prison. If, on the one hand, the religious references are not new in the prison scenario, on the other hand the dissemination of mass services and the segregation of Evangelical people in prison units is worthy of attention. The present research has attempted to understand the representations of the role Evangelical Church plays in prison. From the optics offered by Clinical Criminology of Social Inclusion, an investigation on the context in which the evangelical prisoners are placed was held in order to try to comprehend the dimension of the role played by the Church on their lives, also assessing the connotations of religious belonging. Adopting a theoretical framework that indicates the need for an approximation between free society and imprisoned society through social reintegration projects that seek the development of moral autonomy and the building of an ethical personality aiming at an awareness of self-worth, the stories and life projects of evangelical prisoners were analyzed. For this end, interviews were conducted with inmates from the Industrial Penal Colony of Maringá and the House of Custody of Maringá, which are prison units located in the State of Paraná. The interviews were analyzed individually and divided into categories that focus on the changes the religious conversion brought about, the rules and routine of evangelical space, the awareness and vulnerability of evangelical inmates, as well as the relationship between Church, factions and administration. The empirical evidence shows that, in prison, evangelical people are somewhere in between the mistrust by employees and inmates in general and the credibility seen by others due to not betraying their factions and presenting good behavior in the eyes of the administration. The interviews also indicate that evangelical prisoners are submitted to a strict code of conduct and an intense control by all agents of the prison scenario, but mainly by the inmate population. However, religious conversion can provide resignification of the prisoners own life story and the search for self-growth based on a life project focused on good. In this sense, the data shows the ambivalence of evangelical identity in prison, once it can at the same time be demoralizing and controlling, but it can also return to prisoners the control over their own lives.
