Keywords in Portuguese

Eficiência
Juiz de ligação

Abstract in English
Over the years, the increase in transnational legal relationships and the advance of transnational illicit actions led to the growth of international legal cooperation. Often, however, the tools available for their exercise encountered difficulties in achieving their goals. This dissertation analyzes the structure of international legal cooperation and the obstacles faced during its implementation. These obstacles consist of the diversity of legal systems among countries, the complexity of mega-trials and the difficulty of translations in a context of multiplicity of languages, adversities that gave rise to the idea of creating the position of liaison magistrate to facilitate international legal cooperation. In this context, the research examines the appearance of the liaison judge in the scope of international legal cooperation, the regulation of this position, the nature of the function performed and the role he plays in different areas, as well as issues related to the creation of such role in Brazil, always with the aim of investigating whether in international legal cooperation there is room for the liaison judge to act in order to make it more efficient.
