Abstract in English
The plastic deformation and the microstructural evolution, in relation to the recrystallization behavior, in three magnesium alloys ZK40, ZK40-2CaO and ZK40- 2Gd were investigated in this work, to verify the influence of the addition of the alloy elements Gd and Ca on the ZK40. For that, an in situ study of the hot deformation was carried out, with synchrotron light x-ray diffraction. The samples were heated at two different temperatures, 250 ºC and 300 ºC and compressed at two strain rates, 10-3 s-1 and 10-4 s-1 until the samples reached 30% deformation. The microstructures of the deformed samples were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope and using the EBSD technique. The sample with Ca in the test condition with a temperature of 250 ºC at 10-3 s-1 showed higher yield stress and maximum compression, with 35 MPa and 73.2 MPa, respectively. While the same alloy, ZK40-2CaO, for a temperature of 250 ºC at a deformation rate of 10-4 s-1, showed the lowest yield stress with 13.6 MPa. The ZK40 alloy exhibited the lowest compression stress, a temperature of 300 ºC and a strain rate of 10-4 s-1. In general, continuous dynamic recrystallization was observed in the alloys and there was no discontinuous dynamic recrystallization during the plastic deformation process.
