Abstract in English
In this work we developed the continuous heating transformation diagrams (CHT) as a measure of thermal stability for two Zr-based alloys of bulk metallic glasses Zr48Cu46,5Al4Nb1,5 e Zr52,5Cu17,9Ni14,6Al10Ti5. First, we identify the synthesis parameters that have deleterious effect on the glass formation such as oxygen contamination. The amorphous fractions of the samples were quantified by optical microscopy (OP), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) on a Synchrotron light source, followed by the comparative analysis among the techniques. Based on the DSC diagrams we applied the Ozawa method of kinetics of non-isothermal crystallization to build the CHT diagrams. The results shown a strong correlation between the experimental data and the model applied. The CHT diagrams reported in this work shows the presence of a kinetic limit during the alloy devitrification and can be used as a baseline for welding of bulk metallic glasses without the formation of crystals in the heat affect zone.
