Abstract in English
Most manufactured products, particularly in metalworking industry, goes through some kind of machining process. The CNC machine tool stands today in this industry with high productivity and accuracy. However geometric errors in machined parts can harm the performance of the industry. Among the causes of dimensional errors in machined parts, MF thermal errors can account for 40 to 70% of the total. These errors can be reduced with the implementation of a thermal compensation strategy which is based on an empirical model acting together with coordinate system correction in CNC machines. This work aims to develop a thermal error model based on the exponential phenomenological heat transfer curve. Additionally, it is proposed a model for each machine tool structure whose expansion has a significant influence on the relative position between tool tip and machined part. First, machine tool errors and temperatures were collected under 9 different operating conditions. A finite element model of the machine tool was developed to identify the contribution of each part of the machine tool to the final error. As result, a model with two exponentials for the errors of the general machine tool structure and a single exponential model for the Ball Screw were proposed. Test results are used as input data for optimizing the terms of the models. The final results show that, with the two models acting simultaneously, maximum radial errors were reduced by 69%.
