Tensões induzidas

Abstract in English
Although lightning strikes are a natural phenomenon of recognized importance for maintaining the planet's environmental balance, the stresses induced by them constitute one of the most important phenomena causing operational and financial damage to the electricity sector, specifically the grid of electricity distribution. Although lightning classified as direct causes overvoltages of higher amplitudes than those characterized as indirect, the probability of occurrence of this type is low when compared to indirect lightning, in which the distribution network is more vulnerable to being impacted. In this context is inserted this master's thesis, which aims to develop a methodology for calculation of induced overvoltages in distribution systems originated by indirect lightning, which was computationally implemented, originating a specialist system called "Franklin". To this purpose, this methodology is applied for the calculation of induced overvoltages in a known ZnO lightning arrester degradation model, thus allowing to estimate the reduction of its useful life when installed in a distribution network where there are indirect atmospheric discharges incidences.
