Abstract in English
This work proposes the analysis of the driving of a three-phase induction motor connected to the grid through a nine-switch converter, equivalent to the back-to-back converter but with a reduction in the number of semiconductor devices from twelve to nine. The rotor field-oriented control for the motor and the voltage-oriented control for the grid connection are adopted; in this way, it is possible to operate with unity or leading power factor at the grid connection point, while the machine speed can be controlled. The experimental investigation was carried out with both proportional-integral and predictive current control in the internal control loops. The results obtained in dynamic situations - starting, speed reduction, reversing, and torque disturbance -, in addition to steady-state situations with and without load torque, indicate that, regardless of the operating point and the control technique adopted for the current control loops, this converter topology allows operation with unity or capacitive power factor. Thus, there is the possibility of reactive power compensation without disadvantages in the dynamic and steady-state performance of the other variables of the system.
