Óculos de grau e óculos de sol
Protótipo para teste de armações de óculos
Teste de resistência aumentada de armações de óculos

Prescription glasses and sunglasses
Prototype for testing eyeglass frames
Test of increased resistance of sunglasses frames
Abstract in English
In this research, a prototype was developed for tests of increased resistance in sunglasses frames, according to the requirements of the current Brazilian standard for this test, which can also be used for prescription glasses. The test aims to guarantee the durability of the frame by the act of putting and removing the glasses from the face by the user. A mechanical system was designed, being a nose simulator for support; system for fixing one of the frame's rods (simulation of the side that is fixed behind the ear) and an electronic rotation system - 40 revolutions per minute (RPM) - for the other rod (simulation of the side that will be removed from the face). The system consists of a mechanical design to house the sample, a control system, with NEMA 17 stepper motor model 17HS4401 and a 4.3 touch screen display model P48272V43_ # 07, for user interface. In order to be compliant, the frames must not break and/or the distance between the rods before the test and after the test cannot exceed 5 mm, at a pre-established spots by the standard. We carried out tests on 61 sunglasses frames. Out of the 61 samples (2 of formal economy - with factory quality control; 59, of informal economy - street vendors) 83.6% (51) are COMPLIANT, being of the universe belonging to the informal economy, 17% of samples are NON-CONPLAINT. The average deviation of the distances between the rods for the COMPLAINT samples, within the permitted limit of 5 mm, was 25% of this limit. The prototype presented no repeatability error when kept in operation for 12 uninterrupted hours, nor presented any loss of steps. A new prototype model was suggested to solve some design flaws for testing, in order to meet properly all the requirements of the standard. In addition, this new model allows changing, with warning signs, some parameters of the standard, for carrying out study tests, in addition to recording results and being able to print them.
