Abstract in English
The main objective of this work is to evaluate the effectiviness of PRADs (Reclamation Plans for Decayed Areas) as planning means, control and environmental management in areas influenced by the activity of iron ore extraction situated in the area of Quadrilátero Ferrífero - Brasi. Ten documents (PRADs) disposed in "Fundação Estadual do Meio Ambiente" related to medium-sized and small enterprises were selected, according to their production rate representing the types of mining business in the region of Quadrilátero Ferrífero. The analysis of PRADs are based in articles of the inforced Federal and Local Environmental Legislation and "in locus" research of the environmental and technical variations and the conditioning factors of the environmental reclamation of decayed areas. The results obtained indicate that PRADs are used, mainly, as data store of natural resources and environmental impacts found in the mining regions helping the enterprises in the reclamation planning of the decayed areas. Only in specific cases were made effective the proposal of reclamation shown in the documents.
