Keywords in Portuguese
Cloreto férrico
Lagoa de estabilização
Pós-tratamento
Tanino

Abstract in English
The purpose of this study was to evaluate a physico-chemical post-treatment for the sewage from Sewage Treatment Station (STS) Antas in the city of Dracena-SP. The Sewage Treatment Station (STS) Antas is composed of a railing system followed by two serial anaerobic ponds followed by a facultative pond. The motivation of this study was to produce a sewage with characteristics which meet what is established in the legal regulation of the State of São Paulo Number 8468 of September 8th, 1976. For this the coagulants ferric chloride and tannin were used. The study was divided into two phases. In the first phase the purpose was to determine the best condition of coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation, for the coagulant dosage which resulted in efficiency in the removal of BOD compatible with the quantity needed to meet the legal regulation, as for ferric chloride as for tannin. In the second stage dosages were established of 50 mg/L for tannin and 75 mg/L for ferric chloride, defined in the first stage. The analyses performed in the second stage to characterize the effluent were BOD, COD, pH, turbidity, temperature, phosphorus, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, total solids, total suspended solids and E. coli. The sludge generated in the post-treatment was turned into ashes for the performance of the analyses FRX and DRX for the chemical and mineralogical characterization. These analyses were performed to verify the possibility of using the ashes in the civil construction. The results in the second stage have shown that the dosages of 50 mg/L of the coagulant tannin and 75 mg/L of the coagulant ferric chloride used in the physico-chemical post-treatment produced sewages with quality to be framed in the legal regulation of the State of São Paulo. The results of the analyses FRX and DRX performed in the ashes generated from the chemical sludge produced in this research, have shown characteristics which made it possible to conclude that this material has potential for use in civil construction.
