Auto veículos rodoviários articulados pesados durante o processo de freagem incluindo uma abordagem dos sistemas de freios utilizados nestes e em auto veículos em geral, uma descrição da obtenção do centro de gravidade do cavalo-semi-reboque usado como veículo exemplo, a obtenção do desempenho e da estabilidade em trecho retilíneo e curvilíneo e a obtenção da máxima inclinação do aclive e do declive quando estacionado. Durante a freagem em trecho retilíneo são obtidos com a aplicação da técnica do "passeio do centro de gravidade", obedecendo as restrições geométricas do cavalo-semi-reboque e as restrições impostas pela legislação vigente e pelos seus fabricantes. Fala do modelo matemático adotado e o sistema computacional desenvolvidos. Os resultados teórico-experimentais que validaram o modelo matemático adotado são também mostrados aqui. Finalmente, propostas de trabalhos futuros estão contidas de forma a ampliar os esforços da empresa e da universidade em prol da segurança veicular e do desenvolvimento tecnológico do Brasil.

This work describes a study of the braking process of articulated heavy vehicles including the consideration o f the brake systems used these vehicles and on vehicles : in general, a description of the obtention of the vehicle performance and stability in a straight line and in a curved path and the obtention of the maximum possible ground slope used by the vehicle when parked. The vehicle performance and stability duriing the braking process in a straight line path is obtained with the application of the " centre of gravity range" technique, obeying the geometrical restrictions of the tractor-semi-trailer and the legal and maker''s restrictions. The mathematical model adopted and the computer program developed for these studies are descripted in this work. The theoretical-experimental results that validated the mathematical model adopted are also shown in this work. This work was developed with the support of Mercedes Benz of Brazil, result:ing in a Company and University integration that brought an effective contribution for the more efficient, rational and safe use of tractor-semi-trailer. Finally, future proposition of work is included in this dissertation, with the intention of enlarging the Company and University efforts to the benefit of vehicle safety and technological development in Brazil.
