A historiografia contribuiu para a consolidação de uma narrativa que fez da linha corbusieriana o sinônimo de arquitetura brasileira. Essa opção minimizou o valor dos fatos que não se enquadravam dentro da corrente predominante. Este trabalho resgata um desses aspectos: a conexão entre Frank Lloyd Wright e a arquitetura moderna brasileira. Enfoca três aspectos do vínculo entre Wright e o Brasil. Presença trata da visita que Wright realizou ao Rio de Janeiro em 1931, examinando os pormenores da viagem e sua repercussão, assim como as possíveis conseqüências de sua passagem pelo país. Polêmica revisita as controvérsias que acompanharam a trajetória de Wright e seus reflexos no Brasil, desde o debate em torno do conceito de abstração até a rivalidade entre racionalismo e organicismo que sobreveio à publicação das teorias de Bruno Zevi em fins da Segunda Guerra. Finalmente, Legado aprofundo a relação entre a obra de Frank Lloyd Wright e a arquitetura de São Paulo. A atenção está centrada no período 1937/1946 da obra de João Batista Vilanova Artigas e inclui sua permanência nos Estados Unidos, para onde viajou com uma bolsa de estudos da Fundação Guggenheim .

Historiography has contributed to the consolidation of a narrative that has made the corbusierian way a synonym of Brazilian architecture. This option minimized the Worth of the facts that did not frame within the main stream. This work recovers one of these aspects: the link between Frank Lloyd Wright and modern Brazilian architecture. lt focuses three aspects of the bond between Wright and Brazil. Presença is concerned with the visit Wright has made to Rio de Janeiro in 1931, discussing details and repercussions of his travel, and the possible consequences of his stay in the country. Polêmica reviews the controversies Which will follow Wright's pathway and its echoes in Brazil as well, from the debate about the concept of abstraction until the rivalry between rationalism and organicism that happened after the publication of Bruno Zevi's theories in the end of World War II. At last, Legado deepens the relationship between Wrigh's work and the architecture of São Paulo. The main focus is the 1937/1946 period of João Batista Vilanova Artigas' work and his stay in the US. on a travel with a Guggenheim Foundation's fellowship.
