INTRODUÇÃO: A avaliação e estimativa do prognóstico do paciente, a partir de uma abordagem biopsicossocial, tem importância significativa para a Psiquiatria. Considerando essa especificidade, é importante que se disponha de ferramentas confiáveis para uma avaliação global do paciente, bem como para predição de vulnerabilidades e planejamento do cuidado. Para tal função, pode-se utilizar a ferramenta INTERMED. OBJETIVOS: O estudo tem por objetivo relatar a experiência de aplicar o INTERMED em pacientes internados em enfermarias psiquiátricas do HC-FMRP-USP. MÉTODOS: Foram avaliados 50 pacientes internados nas enfermarias de psiquiatria usando o instrumento INTERMED. Foram relatados qualitativamente e quantitativamente eventos ocorridos durante a aplicação do instrumento que permitem descrever a experiência. RESULTADOS: Os pacientes em internação psiquiátrica foram capazes de responder adequadamente ao instrumento, com boa aceitação e obtenção de dados relevantes. Os escores obtidos são compatíveis com os de pacientes internados em serviços terciários. CONCLUSÃO: O INTERMED é uma ferramenta possível de ser usada em pacientes psiquiátricos internados, com possíveis benefícios à organização do cuidado.

INTRODUCTION: The evaluation of a patient's prognosis, through a biopsychosocial approach has a significant importance to Psychiatry. Considering this specificity of Psychiatry, it is important that reliable instruments are available to ensure a global understand of the patient, as well as the prediction of vulnerabilities and coordination of care. To this function, the INTERMED assessment grid emerges as a possibility. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to describe the experience of the INTERMED application in psychiatric inpatients in psychiatric wards of HC-FMRP-USP. METHODS: Fifty psychiatric inpatients were evaluated using INTERMED. Qualitative and quantitative measurements were taken during the application to describe the experience. RESULTS: Psychiatric inpatients were able to properly answer the instrument, with good acceptance and understanding, leading to a satisfactory data collection. The scores obtained are compatible to those expected of tertiary patients. CONCLUSION: INTERMED assessment grid is a reliable instrument that can be used in psychiatric inpatients with potential benefits to the coordination of care.
