Abstract in Portuguese
Entre eles, 221 indivíduos (24,5%) apresentavam achados abdominopélvicos positivos (radiografia RX n=62; ultrassonografia US n=131; tomografia computadorizada TC n=112; ressonância magnética RM n=10).

Abstract in English
Introduction: Since the emergence of COVID-19, there has been a significant increase in abdominal and pelvic imaging due to the associated symptomatology. However, there is still a need to study these changes in detail, as current information is sparse.Goals: The purpose of the study was to retrospectively evaluate the imaging findings of the abdomen and pelvis (AAP) in individuals diagnosed with COVID-19, attended at a tertiary emergency/reference service. Method: A retrospective survey was carried out over a period of 2 years and 6 months (February 2020 - August 2022), of all individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 confirmed by rtPCR, who underwent abdominal and/or pelvic imaging at the tertiary emergency/reference service. Abdominopelvic images of individuals were evaluated, and analysis groups were created based on the findings. Results: 904 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 and AAP imaging examinations were analyzed. Among them, 221 individuals (24.5%) had positive abdominopelvic findings (radiography RX n=62; ultrasound US n=131; computed tomography CT n=112; magnetic resonance imaging MRI n=10). The most frequent imaging findings were dilation of intestinal loops at 43%, followed by hepatomegaly at 36.7%, splenomegaly at 14%, and thickening of intestinal loops at 17.3%. The most frequently affected solid organs were the liver at 44.3%, the spleen at 38%, and the kidneys at 20%. The hospitalization rate was 91% and the mortality rate was 32.1%. Conclusion: Intestinal and hepatic alterations were the most common findings in patients with COVID-19 undergoing AAP exams.
