Abstract in English
The blood therapy is the therapeutic use of blood which can save lives and improve the health of patients. The blood therapy has been characterized by preventing the spread of infectious and contagious agents during blood transfusion of blood components. The transmission of infectious and contagious agents by transfusion of blood components, characterized by late adverse reaction of increased risk for receptors of blood. One way to prevent the spread of these infectious and contagious agents by blood transfusion and ensure the safety of blood that will be transfused is the identification of pathogens by serological tests. The Central Serological the Hemominas Foundation served by 2012, 20 units in the State of Minas Gerais, therefore, the knowledge of the serological characteristics of people willing to donate blood is of fundamental importance for the prevention of transmission of infectious agents by blood transfusions and adopt strategies educational prevention of communicable diseases by blood. The current project had, as the main objective; assess the distribution of serological markers of blood donors in Hemominas Foundation in the regions of Minas Gerais, from January 2006 until December 2012. Other data were also collected such as the number of candidates' donation (fit and unfit), type of donation (first donation and repetition), age and sex. Approximately 81.2% of donors were eligible in clinical screening. The repeat donors accounted for 68.2% of the total, males predominated among the donations (66.8%). The total humoral disability was 3.05%, the total anti-HBc the most common marker (1.26%), followed by Syphilis (0.88%) and HIV (0.36%). The prevalence of the marker to search for Hepatitis C was 0.15%, HTLV 0.09%, Chagas 0.13% and HBs-Ag 0.18%. Governador Valadares and Mesoregion Vale do Rio Doce had the highest proportion of donors reactive for anti-HBc (2.41%). Além Paraíba had the lowest proportion of reagents donors for HIV and Juiz de Fora and Betim, the largest. Montes Claros and Mesoregion North of Minas Gerais had the highest prevalence for the marker search for Chagas disease (0.69%). The presentation of data from serological ineligibility for UFHs and Mesoregions Minas Gerais profile allows recognizing the particularities of each region contributing to health surveillance and assisting the Hemorrede on its own process to select donors, in order to keep the transfusion safety.
