O presente estudo teve por objetivo: realizar a adequação e avaliar a validade, fidedignidade e análise fatorial da "Escala de Observação Interativa de Pacientes Psiquiátricos Internados" (EOIPPI), para as situações de terapia ocupacional em saúde mental. Foram utilizados para tanto um total de 120 observações de 15 pacientes adultos, submetidos a quatro avaliações, durante os primeiros 15 dias de internação. Os pacientes foram observados por dois terapeutas ocupacionais simultaneamente. A análise fatorial revelou quatro dimensões globais, representadas por: Execução da Atividade, Psicoticismo, Cuidado Pessoal e Interação Social. A escala adaptada as situações de terapia ocupacional satisfez os requisitos de fidedignidade e validade exigidos de uma escala de avaliação. O instrumento apresentou-se adequado às situações de terapia ocupacional para situações de saúde mental e poderá favorece: a sistematização das observações, o registro quantitativo das manifestações psicopatológicas de forma concisa, contribuindo para uma comunicação mais fácil e precisa entre profissionais.

The aim of this paper is to describe the reliability, validity and factorial dimensions of a Interactive observation scale for psychiatry in-patient and its adequacy for occupational therapy, in the environment of a psychiatric ward of a university general hospital. A number of 15 adult in-patients were observed for four times during 15 first days of the treatment, and 120 observations were gathered. At the same time those observations were made by two different trained occupational therapists, on each one ofthe 15 in-patients. The factorial analysis showed four general dimensions related: practice of activities, psychotic behavior, personal care and social interaction. The scale met the reliability and validity required for observational instrument. The instrumentshas proved to be adequade for occupational therapy situations enmental health, helping the systematization of the observations and an the quantitative register of the psychopatological behaviours in a concise way, contribuiting to a better and easier communication among professionals.
