Abstract in English
The arterial vascular distribution in the spleen of Murrah buffaloes was studied through the injection of contrast with the objective to characterize a possible segmentary distribution. The spleens, injected with neoprene latex, showed pedicles consisting of 2 to 5 extra-hilar vessels, most of which were primary and only a few secondary order, predominating those with three extra-hilar vessels. The samples filled with latex and dissected, as well as the casts obtained by corrosion showed anastomosis of the transversal types which, generally occur between the vessels (primary and secondary) of higher calibre, specially in the regions near the hilum, and even in the median region of the spleen. They may be, sometimes, convergent when they fix themselves among secondary and terciary branches and of the "candelabrum" type which delineate soft curves, when they occur among terciary and quaternary branches. The arteriograms showed communication between the most varied types of vessels by anastomotic branches in areas considered to be avascular or scarcely vascularized by other investigators. Selective arteriograms permitted us to confirm the participation of anastomotic branches in the communication between vessels considered to have segmentary distribution. It was hypothesized that the segmentary character of the arterial distribution in the spleen of bufalloes reported by other preferential circulation resulting from an intraarterial device or from contractions of the organ. Although intraarterial sctructures may have appeared or even the strict relations between arterial branches and septal structures, it is not possible to characterize within the actual material, a real arterial segmentation of the spleen. The results of this investigation agree with the hypothesis that the arterial disposition within the spleen of the buffalo Murrah does not follow the behaviour of segmentary vessels admitted by other authors.
