A proposta deste estudo foi investigar a presença e possíveis funções do silêncio nos livrosálbum, refletindo especificamente sobre a presença do branco e o virar de páginas. Um foco importante do estudo é discutir as características do livroálbum, uma linguagem híbrida, que desafia os limites da literatura, da arte e do design, em que todos os elementos constitutivos, até mesmo os menores indícios, significam. Seu significado é tecido na composição de palavra, imagem e design, convidando assim a um outro modo de ler, em que a compreensão se vale de sentidos que vão além da visão. Entendendo-se aqui o branco não como a cor, mas como a ausência, o que não está preenchido, um espaço que evidencia a materialidade do objeto, o vazio possibilidade de criação, tanto para o autor quanto para o leitor, que junto ao livro, formam a tríade que possibilita a realização da obra, foram realizadas leituras fenomenológicas dos livros Lulu e o urso; Lá e aqui (ambos de Carolina Moreyra e Odilon Moraes); Meu tio chega amanhã (Sebastián Santana Camargo) e Meu pequenino (Germano Zullo e Albertine) a partir de estudos teóricos, empíricos e entrevistas semiestruturadas considerando o pensamento de Bruno Munari, Donis A. Donis, Andrew Haslam, Paul Rand, Ellen Lupton no campo do Design; Michel Melot e Wolfgang Iser no campo da literatura; Barbara Bader, Perry Nodelman, David Lewis, Odilon Moraes e Fernando Zaparaín, entre outros, especificamente no livroálbum; e Martin Heidegger, Georges Didi-Huberman e David Le Breton na filosofia.

This study aims to investigate the presence and possible functions of silence in picturebooks, focusing on the presence of blank areas and the turning of pages. There is an emphasis on analysing the features of picturebooks, a hybrid language which tests the boundaries of literature, art and design, in which all the constitutive elements are meaningful, no matter how small. Their meaning is woven into words, images and design, suggesting a different form of reading, in which understanding is achieved through senses that go beyond vision. In this paper, blank spaces are understood as absence, as gaps, as a space that casts light on the materiality of the book, the emptiness. It denotes the possibility of creation, both for the author and the reader, who along with the book itself, compose the triad that allows the work to happen. This study includes phenomenological readings of Lulu e o urso and Lá e aqui (both by Carolina Moreyra and Odilon Moraes), Meu tio chega amanhã (Sebastián Santana Camargo) and Meu pequenino (Germano Zullo e Albertine) based on theoretical and empirical approaches and semi-structured interviews. It draws on the ideas of Bruno Munari, Donis A. Donis, Andrew Haslam, Paul Rand and Ellen Lupton on design; Michel Melot and Wolfgang Iser on literature; Barbara Bader, Perry Nodelman, David Lewis, Odilon Moraes and Fernando Zaparaín, to name but a few, on picturebooks; and Martin Heidegger, Georges Didi-Huberman and David Le Breton on philosophy.
