Esta tese apresenta uma análise do metrô de São Paulo a partir de suas estações, projeto e arquitetura, para examinar as possibilidades de integração dos equipamentos de mobilidade e da infraestrutura ao espaço urbano. A metrópole de São Paulo é analisada no processo de formação do território, com contexto de construção da rede e da cultura de projeto que a produz. A análise dos projetos abrange paralelamente a escala metropolitana, da rede de mobilidade, e a escala local, da rua no bairro. A seleção de estações de cinco linhas distintas possibilita confrontar a produção desses equipamentos ao longo dos cinquenta anos do Metrô, atravessando a dimensão do planejamento urbano, nas políticas de desenho da rede e implantação, e a dimensão construtiva, dentro dos processos de projeto, obra, materialidade e composição dos espaços. A pesquisa organiza para análise três grupos de estações com implantações distintas que, com isso, levantam questões particulares quanto ao projeto: estações elevadas, de superfície e subterrâneas. No primeiro grupo, as estações se manifestam como monumentos na paisagem da cidade, ao mesmo tempo em que participam de sua dinâmica cotidiana; no segundo grupo, as estações de superfície que são interligadas a outras redes de mobilidade conformam terminais intermodais de grande impacto em seu entorno; no terceiro, as estações que vem do subterrâneo para abrirem praças públicas possibilitam o estudo da relação entre estações, praças e centralidades em São Paulo. Um último capítulo questiona os caminhos futuros para projetos de equipamentos de mobilidade, e coloca em paralelo o projeto do Grand Paris Express, em Paris, na França, e os atuais planos de expansão da rede paulista. Partindo de um sistema de fluxos e estações, e se debruçando sobre espaços de uso cotidiano, público, coletivo, comum e pedestre, a pesquisa aprofunda o tema do projeto de infraestruturas e aponta relações atuais entre arquitetura, mobilidade e espaço urbano.

This thesis presents an analysis of the São Paulo subway network that, from its stations, design and architecture, examines the ossibilities of integration by the mobility equipment and infrastructure to the urban space. It analyzes the metropolis of São Paulo in the process of the territory's formation, as well as in the context of the network's construction and the design culture that has produced it. The analysis of the projects encompasses in parallel the metropolitan scale, the mobility network, and the local scale of the street in the neighborhood. The selection of stations of five distinct lines allows us to confront the production of these equipment over the 50 years of the subway, crossing the dimension of urban planning, within the region of implantation, and the constructive one, within the processes and policies of construction, design, materiality and composition of spaces. The research highlights three groups of stations that present distinct deployments in relation to urban space and, therefore, raises particular questions regarding the design: elevated stations, surface stations and underground stations. In the first group, the subway stations stands as monuments in the city landscape while participating in their daily dynamics; in the second group, the surface stations that are interconnected to other mobility networks and constitute intermodal terminals of great impact in their surroundings; in the third group, the stations come from the underground to open public squares, and allow the study of the relations between stations, squares and centralities in São Paulo. The last chapter explores the future paths for mobility equipment design, by comparing the project of Grand Paris Express in Paris, France, and the current expansion plans of the São Paulo network. Starting from a system of flows and stations, and leaning on spaces of quotidian, public, collective, common and pedestrian use, the research deepens the theme of the infrastructure design and indicates some current relations between architecture, mobility and urban space.
