Esta dissertação tem como objetivo abordar a trajetória de Bernardo Rzazek (1911-1995) e Majer Botkowski (1925-2014), ambos nascidos na Polônia, arquitetos com significativa contribuição na verticalização de São Paulo e que merecem o devido reconhecimento historiográfico da arquitetura brasileira. A escolha destes nomes em meio a tantos outros que poderiam estar aqui incluídos se dá através de uma base consistente de edifícios já identificados de suas respectivas autorias, nos levando a um questionamento sobre o que sabemos além disso sobre estes profissionais. Estes arquitetos projetaram importantes edifícios em São Paulo e, através de uma investigação mais centralizada, pode-se constatar que um aprofundamento biográfico e a catalogação destes projetos preenche uma lacuna e os posicionam devidamente como colaboradores significativos de um período de grandes transformações da cidade. Visando um recorte mais apurado desta atuação, sendo considerada a ampla atuação dos arquitetos em diferentes tipologias de projeto, e a partir desta listagem, foram selecionados, em sua maioria as tipologias que contribuíram para a verticalização da cidade, sendo então objetos de interesse, primeiramente os edifícios projetados com fins habitacionais ou de escritórios e projetos que venham a caracterizar a trajetória dos arquitetos estudados. Como recorte temporal, o período abordado entre 1947 e 1982 reúne as principais obras das carreiras dos arquitetos estudados e que exemplificam o auge de suas carreiras. Foram ao todo 68 projetos analisados e catalogados que expressam a linguagem e habilidade desses profissionais. Também foram utilizados como estudos de caso o Edifício Washington de Bernardo Rzezak e o Edifício Andraus de Majer Botkowski. A dissertação é dividida em três capítulos: o primeiro descreve as fontes e a metodologia escolhida; o segundo irá criar um panorama da época, destacando as principais contribuições arquitetônicas e dando ênfase aos arquitetos estrangeiros; o terceiro irá abordar alguns nomes que ainda não foram objeto de pesquisa e que também tiveram importante contribuição, seguindo para os subcapítulos dos arquitetos estudados, onde irá se resumir suas origens e formações e posteriormente as fichas técnicas dos projetos selecionados para o recorte. Esta pesquisa tem o objetivo principal de ilustrar a importância da valorização do arquiteto através de sua contribuição para a construção da cidade. Onde devemos estar atentos aos diversos profissionais que, sendo ou não considerados renomados, fizeram parte da história através de suas obras.

This dissertation aims to approaches the trajectory of Bernardo Rzazek (1911-1995) and Majer Botkowski (1925-2014), both born in Poland, and architects with a significant contribution to the verticalization of São Paulo and who deserve due historiographical recognition of Brazilian architecture. The choice of these names among so many others that could be included here takes place through a consistent base of buildings already identified in their respective authorship, leading us to a questioning about what we know more over about these professionals. Being architects who designed important buildings in São Paulo, through a more centralized investigation it can be seen that a biographical deepening and the cataloging of the projects fills a gap and properly positions them as significant collaborators in a period of great transformations in the city. Aiming at a more accurate cut of this performance, considering the wide performance of architects in different types of projects, from this list, most of the typologies that contributed to the verticalization of the city were selected, being then objects of interest, firstly the buildings designed for housing or office purposes and projects that come to characterize the trajectory of the studied architects. As a temporal cut, the period covered between 1947 and 1982 brings together the main works of the careers of the architects studied and that exemplify the peak of their careers. A total of 67 projects were analyzed and cataloged that express the language and skills of these professionals. Also used as case studies were the Washington Building by Bernardo Rzezak and the Andraus Building by Majer Botkowski. The dissertation is divided into three chapters: the first describes the sources and methodology chosen; the second will create an overview of the period, highlighting the main architectural contributions and emphasizing foreign architects; the third will address some names that have not yet been the subject of research and that also had an important contribution, moving on to the subchapters of the studied architects, where their origins and training will be summarized and later the technical sheets of the projects selected for the cut. This research has the main objective of illustrating the importance of valuing the architect through his contribution to the construction of the city. Where we must be aware of the various professionals who, whether or not considered renowned, were part of history through their works.
