A tese tem, como objeto de estudo, os espaços livres ribeirinhos de assentamentos informais urbanos, e, como objetivo central, buscar estratégias e metodologias que possibilitem a participação da sociedade em diferentes etapas do planejamento da intervenção fluvial. Para tanto, propõe uma metodologia de avaliação e monitoramento fluvial e apresenta tipologias paisagísticas multifuncionais de alto esempenho, com baixo custo de implantação e manutenção e que apresentem tanto benefícios ambientais quanto sociais como possíveis ferramentas de intervenção. A pesquisa tem como base conceitual os princípios de Infraestrutura Verde e Serviços Ecossistêmicos. Sua área de estudo e aproximação é o fundo de vale do Rio Mocambo, localizado na bacia hidrográfica do Passa-Vaca, em Salvador, Bahia, bem como sua relação urbana e ambiental com o entorno, principalmente com a comunidade de Canabrava.

The thesis has as object of study the riparian open space of informal urban settlements, and its main objective is to seek strategies and methodologies that enable the participation of society in different stages of planning river intervention. To this end, it proposes a fluvial monitoring and evaluation methodology and features multifunctional landscape typologies, high performance with low cost of implementation and maintenance, having both environmental and social benefits as possible intervention tools. The research has as a conceptual basis the principles of Green Infrastructure and Ecosystem Services. Its area of study and approximation is the valley bottom of the Mocambo River, located in the Passa-Vaca hydrographic basin, in Salvador, Bahia, as well as its urban and environmental relationship with its surroundings, mainly with the community of Canabrava.
