Abstract in English
Right after assuming the Government of the State of São Paulo in 1959, Carlos Alberto de Carvalho Pinto began to outline what would be one of the most emblematic planning experiences in Brazil, the Action Plan of the State of São Paulo PAGE. This was a broad planning initiative, with clear and objective goals, that covered the entire administration system and reached different economic sectors. Through this initiative, paradigmatic works of São Paulos Architecture were made possible. The aim of this dissertation is to approach the production of the Secretary of Agriculture during this planning experience in the proposing of a specific program for the agricultural sector, which culminated in an important collection of modern architecture with more than 450 buildings. This unpublished collection sheds light on the trajectory of characters that were unknown by historiography, and were active inside states technical staff. Furthermore, it contributes to the expansion of the debate about the horizons of modern architecture, presenting designs with a pragmatic and economic bias but certainly with a pioneer character, as it pointed an inflection phase in the public architecture promoted by the State of São Paulo and physically expresses its modern objectives by constituting infrastructural networks for economic advancement.
