Abstract in English
This dissertation aims to investigate how the memories of Domitila de Castro Canto e Melo are mobilized in the processes of valuation of her former residence, the Solar da Marquesa de Santos, which currently serves as the headquarters of the Museum of the City of São Paulo. Through documents related to the listing process, uses and appropriations of the space, positions of the different agents involved are analyzed, including heritage preservation agencies, the cultural institution and its visitors, looking for the understandings and tensions created around the Marquesa's character. It is intended, therefore, to understand how heritage is informed by gender issues and to discuss its mediation as an opportunity for problematize them.
