A presente dissertação propõe pensar a relação entre festa e cidade, mais especificamente entre carnaval e Salvador, Bahia, através de três pontos de inflexão temporais, localizados nas décadas de 1920, 1950 e 1970; períodos que adensam inúmeras discussões e transformações importantes que atravessaram essas duas dimensões da vida na cidade, tanto aquela do urbano quanto do carnaval. O fio condutor da pesquisa é o trio elétrico, criado na capital baiana em 1951, entendendo existir nessa figura um adensamento de discussões consideradas fundamentais, abordando aqui suas implicações técnicas, estéticas e urbanas, especialmente para pensarmos as transformações reverberadas pelo objeto automóvel no espaço físico e usos socioculturais da cidade. Os três pontos de inflexão elencados para a pesquisa, para além de episódios isolados, funcionam como disparadores de questões, inseridos num panorama mais amplo e elástico de acontecimentos. São eles: 1) em 1920, o desfile pelo CORSO de automóveis, empreendido pelo industrial Henrique Lanat e sua família; 2) em 1951, a criação do trio elétrico FOBICA, pela Dupla Elétrica Dodô e Osmar; 3) em 1972, o desfile da CAETANAVE, homenageando a volta do exílio de Caetano Veloso, no contexto da ditadura militar. Desconfiamos que, no desafio de pensar por nebulosas (PEREIRA, 2018), ao friccionar essas diferentes camadas numa malha de acontecimentos mais ampla, pode-se fazer emergir tanto fissuras no predomínio de um urbanismo ordenador das cidades modernas, como fragilidades de uma festa que se pretende como inversora temporária da normalidade e cotidianidade da vida urbana.

This dissertation proposes to think about the relationship between festival and city, more specifically between carnival and Salvador, Bahia, through three inflection points, located in the 1920s, 1950s and 1970s; periods that intensify countless discussions and important transformations that crossed these two dimensions of life in the city, both urban and festive. The guiding thread of the research is the Trio Elétrico, created in the capital of Bahia in 1951, understanding that there is a density of discussions in this figure, approaching here its technical, aesthetic and urban implications, especially to think about the transformations reverberated by the automobile in the physical space and sociocultural uses of the city. The three inflection points listed for the research, in addition to isolated episodes, act as triggers for questions, inserted in a broader and more elastic panorama of events. They are: 1) in 1920, the car parade through CORSO, undertaken by the industrialist Henrique Lanat and his family; 2) in 1951, the creation of the trio elétrico FOBICA, by Dodô and Osmar; 3) in 1972, the CAETANAVE parade, honoring the return from exile of Caetano Veloso, in the context of the military dictatorship. We suspect that, in the challenge of thinking through nebulae (PEREIRA, 2018), by rubbing these different layers into a broader mesh of events, it is possible to make fissures emerge in the predominance of an orderly urbanism of modern cities, as well as the weaknesses of a party that it is intended as a temporary inversion of the normality and everyday life of urban life.
