Abstract in English
Cities have become part of our lives. Denying this fact today is the same as denying our own existence. If cities are made of people and people are made of cities, we can see, therefore, that there is something wrong with ourselves as citizens and pedestrians. Today we face a global pandemic and now is more than ever the time to react with creativity, audacity and speed to the quality of urban life. Thus, we infer here the importance of walking not only for our own well-being, but, above all, for our own existence. We attach Ergonomics to it as a method of studying and assessing Walkability. We also expose the potential that the Streetscapes concept has to contribute as a synthesis of the correlations between the material, objective and measurable variables of the urban environment with the immaterial, subjective and immeasurable variables of pedestrians. That said, this research aims at a systematization that shows relationships between criteria of Walkability, physical factors and socio-cultural and behavioral factors. Here it is clear the importance of dedicating to qualitative and phenomenological study as a way to search for key elements in the urban environment that can bring us comfort and well-being. In addition, we try to show that yes, the built urban environment can influence us as pedestrians.
