O Bexiga e seus territórios é o título deste trabalho e o roteiro que vai conduzir o olhar sobre este pedaço de São Paulo. O conhecimento da construção histórica do bairro, do apego de seus moradores a seu lugar e da sua criatividade para defendê-lo é o que indicou a palavra chave território. A transformação da metrópole avançou sobre esse território e o marcou definitivamente com as vias que cortaram seu espaço. O Bexiga teve que se abrir para receber os "forasteiros". Como absorver esta nova situação garantindo a permanência do território popular foi o objeto do Concurso Nacional de Idéias de 89. A proposta vencedora aponta um caminho que não foi submetido ao teste da prática. A configuração de novos espaços que acomodem e potencializem a redefinição de territórios, exigência atual, é o desenvolvimento lógico deste trabalho. A rua enquanto espaço público por excelência, a rua como se fez no Bexiga, a trama desse bairro na hierarquia e articulação com a trama maior da cidade. Os novos territórios do Bexiga. "Bexiga and its territories" is the title of this paper and the guide that is going to conduct the look over this part of São Paulo. The knowledge of this neighbourhood historic construction, the attachement its inhabitants have to the place and their creativity to defend it is what indicated the key word territory. The transformation of the metropolis advanced over this territory and definetly marked it though the ways that cut its space. Bexiga had to open itself to receive the "outsiders". How to absorb this complex situation insuring that the popular territory can stay was the objective of the "Concurso nacional de Idéias para a Renovação Urbana e Preservação do Bexiga" 1989. The winning proposition aims at a way that was not submitted to the practical test. The confirguration of new spaces that accomodate and enhance the redefinition of territories, a present demand, is the logical development of this paper.
