Contribuição à formação de um banco de dados sobre a disponibilidade de luz natural em localidades brasileiras. Aborda a pertinência do uso da luz natural na arquitetura contemporânea, tendo em vista critérios de naturezas qualitativa, quantitativa e de economia e conservação de energia nos ambientes construídos, bem como pondera a inserção da temática nas avaliações pós-ocupação (APOs). Estuda a base conceitual dos modelos preditivos da disponibilidade de luz natural e justifica a adoção daquele preconizado pela IES - Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. Apresenta o sotware DLN, preditivo da disponibilidade de luz natural em planos horizontais e verticais externos às edificações, e introduz o conceito de Dia Luminoso Típico de Projeto, que guarda estreita semelhança com o conceito de Dia Típico de Projeto, utilizado nos estudos de conforto térmico. Compila informações sobre Dias Luminosos Típicos de Verão, Outono, Inverno e Primavera para todas as capitais de Estados brasileiros, inclusive para o Distrito Federal.

This Thesis offers a contribution in the preparation of a data bank on daylight availability in different brazilian localities. It approaches the pertinence of daylight usage in contemporary architecture, considering the quality and the quantity of illumination as well as the resultant economy in terms of energy conservation and the use of post-occupancy evaluation (POE) techniques in built environments. It studies the principal models used in determining daylight availability and justifies the adoption of the model proposed by the IES - Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. It presents the software DLN, which permits the calculation of daylight availability in horizontal and vertical plans outside the buildings, and introduces the Typical Liminous Design Day concept, which is similar to the Typical Design Day, used in thermal comfort studies. It compiles information about Typical Luminous Days of Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring for each one of the brazilian States capitals, as well as the Federal District of Brasília.
