Abstract in English
In accordance with the principles of the 18th century European Enlightenment, as well as with new productive and cultural demands, an idea is internationally established: one that the teaching of drawing - understood then as a possible universal language - should be disseminated to all society, and not be restricted to the building-up of specific professional categories. In the course of 19th century, the faith on the pedagogical power of drawing reaches a maximum success. In this context, the editions aimed to disclose it had vital importance: complex cultural objects, linked to various uses, those editions spread in different circles and regions the contents and pattens that were absorbed by a wide public, influencing their practice. Through the analysis of the editions focused on the teaching of drawing published in this period, and underlining their circulation, an extensive panorama on the teaching of drawing in Brazil during 19lh century is presented.
