In order to compare the observed ultraviolet emission with the prediction provided by the spectral synthesis code STARLIGHT by using as spectral input the Simple Stellar Populations (SSPs) libraries by Bruzual & Charlot (2003), we have selected a sample of 999 galaxies within a redshift range of 0.05 < z < 0.075 observed by Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7 and by the Galaxy Evolution Explorer satellite GALEX Relase 7. We analysed the visible and ultraviolet observed photometric data and found strong correlation between the colors in the visible region (e.g. g-r) and the ultraviolet emission. From the bimodal color distribution in the visible region, we have found a bimodal distribution in the (FUV-r) and (NUV-r) color histograms, in agreement with the previous literature, which, on the other hand, did not appear in the (FUV-NUV) distribution. Additionally, we noticed in all the color distributions involving the ultraviolet a wider dispersion among galaxies that are red in the visible region ($m{g-r>0.6}$). With the goal of better characterizing the sample, several diagrams were analysed, including the diagnostic ones: BPT and WHAN. We verified that there are no correlations between the emission in the ultraviolet for the galaxies and the parameters extracted from the spectral synthesis of our sample. Moreover, we have also compared the observational data in the ultraviolet with the extrapolated synthetic spectra within the same wavelength range. We found a great difference between the observed and synthetic fluxes for the entire sample, but with an even greater dispersion for Early-Type Galaxies (higher Dn4000). Furthermore, we performed a more detailed investigation regarding a subsample in terms of their main SSPs that influence the emission in the ultraviolet; the SSPs that contribute the most for the emission in the ultraviolet are not the same that contribute to the synthesis of these objects in the visible: these are overall representative of very young populations. This indicates the need for a possible adjustment in the synthesis to better treat the ultraviolet region. Last, but not least, we have also used the AMADA package, which is excellent for data visualization and diagnostics as a tool for reinforcing the analyses throughout this investigation, thus putting in practice rare and even unprecedented tools among the astronomical context, as way of validating the obtained results. This is actually the first time that the chord diagram is used in a real astronomical context.
