Abstract in English
This paper aims to provide guidance on 'when, how and why' companies should use agile methodologies for the development of new businesses. For the research, an investigation methodology based on bibliographic and exploratory research was used, with the use of field research, through the in-depth interviews. Initially, bibliographic research was developed to investigate about concepts of what is incremental and/or differential in terms of agile methodologies, better understand about success definition regarding the use of agile, and practical cases of agile execution. Finally, 11 qualitative interviews were developed with a group of executives from 4 large companies in Brazil. Through this study it is possible to indicate which are the agile principles that stand out and/or are incremental versus the waterfall methodology and worth the efforts and investments from the companies regarding the application and development of new businesses. At the end, an infographic is provided with an orientation of 'when' companies should use agile methodologies, 'what' are the principles that most add value and the benefits of their implementation for the development of new businesses to attend the initial guidelines of 'when, how and why' to adopt agile methodologies in the company.
