Abstract in English
This study aim to describe and analyse the adoption of new technology decision in small firms. To reach this goal a multiple case study was utilized, so in this manner was possible to see in rich details the four different types of decisions that occur in parallel: the strategic decision to adopt new technology, the operarional decisions conceming the type of technology to acquire and the implementation of new technology, and the financial decision to provide the resources necessary to make the acquisition. The results showed that the four decision processes are different in nature, they are described as nested because the technology choice, financial justification and implementation processes are temporally embedded within the strategic commitment process. The processes are also parallel rather than sequential, they are also interwined and influenced by contextual elements.
