Este trabalho busca analisar como a estratégia de virtualização adotada pelas empresas em decorrência das modificações no ambiente de negócios e do desenvolvimento e acessibilidade da tecnologia de informática e comunicações têm afetado a maneira como as empresas se organizam no que se refere ao seu modelo de gestão. Cabe destaque na utilização dos recursos da tecnologia no relacionamento das empresas com o ambiente externo, em especial clientes e fornecedores, assim como no gerenciamento do seu ambiente interno. Utiliza-se de levantamento bibliográfico dos assuntos relacionados ao objeto de pesquisa na definição dos conceitos relacionados à virtualização e das percepções das consequências das mudanças no campo da administração de empresas e de estudo de casos de empresas que apresentam o desenvolvimento de aspectos de virtualização na sua organização. As informações foram coletadas através de entrevistas realizadas nas empresas pesquisadas, assim como através de levantamento secundário de dados.

This study aims to analyse how the virtualizing strategy that has been adopted by the corporations as a consequence of the changes in the business environment and of the development and accessibility of the information tecnology and comunications has affected the way the companies organize themselves in respect to their management model. Special attention is given to the use of technology resources in the relationship of companies with their externai environment, mainly their customers and suppliers, and also in how the companies handle their internai environment. It was performed a bibliographic research of the topics related to the object of the study in the defmition of the concepts related to virtualization and the views of different authors about the consequences of the changes in the field of business administration. It was also performed a study of cases of companies that present the development of virtualization in their organizations. The infomations were collected through interviews performed in the researched companies, and also through secondary data collection.
