Esta tese tem como objetivo compreender as dimensões envolvidas na experiência de consumo de travestis e mulheres trans. É uma pesquisa qualitativa e exploratória cujos objetivos específicos foram desenvolvidos em três artigos complementares os quais estruturam esta tese de doutorado. Participaram da pesquisa 18 mulheres trans, 6 travestis e 1 pessoa transfeminina não-binária, perfazendo um total de 25 participantes. Como estratégia de coleta de dados foram utilizadas entrevistas em profundidade e a técnica projetiva Estória-Desenho por Tema. A análise foi realizada à luz do método do psicodiagnóstico compreensivo a qual possibilitou a identificação das lentes teóricas aplicadas nas discussões de dados. O artigo 1, intitulado Consumo e posses no desenvolvimento do self de travestis e mulheres trans: um estudo compreensivo, teve como objetivo investigar o consumo e as posses no processo de afirmação de gênero em travestis e mulheres trans, com base nas Estratégias do Self Estendido. O artigo 2 intitulado A dor da beleza: a vulnerabilidade de consumidoras trans no consumo de hormônios não prescritos e de silicone industrial não cirúrgico teve como objetivo analisar a vulnerabilidade das consumidoras e seus reflexos no consumo de hormônios não prescritos e de silicone industrial não cirúrgico por travestis e mulheres trans. O artigo 3, intitulado Objetificação, comoditização do corpo e consumos de risco: experiência de travestis e mulheres trans no trabalho sexual que buscou identificar de que forma ocorre a comoditização do corpo em processos de objetificação sexual e do self, em mulheres trans e travestis, e quais consumos de risco são associados. Entre os principais achados, destacam-se, respectivamente, a existência de itens regulares de consumo e posses em cada estratégia da Teoria do Self Estendido; a ocorrência de respostas ativas negativas após a experiência de vulnerabilidade pelo consumo de hormônios sem prescrição e de silicone industrial não cirúrgico, como a automutilação e a busca reincidente por silicone industrial; e consumos de risco como consequências da ação moderadora da comoditização do corpo na objetificação do self entre travestis e mulheres trans trabalhadoras sexuais. Como resultado geral deste estudo, aponta-se que experiências de consumo entre travestis e mulheres trans são ultrapassadas pela interseccionalidade, e que podem levar a diferentes níveis de vulnerabilidades, estando aquelas no trabalho sexuais mais suscetíveis a danos físicos e psicológicos. Por fim, apresenta-se as limitações do estudo, as contribuições teóricas, metodológicas e gerenciais e direções para futuras pesquisas.

The purpose of this thesis is to comprehend the dimensions involved on the consumption experience of transvestite and trans women. The qualitative and exploratory research whose specific goals were developed in three complementary articles which structure this doctoral thesis. Eighteen trans women, six transvestites and one trans-feminine non-binary were part of this research, making a total of 25 participants. As a data collect strategy in-depth interviews and the projective theme story-drawing technique were used. The analysis was carried out in the light of the method of comprehensive psychodiagnosis, which made it possible to identify the theoretical lenses applied in the data discussions. The article one, entitled Consumption and possessions in the self-development of transvestites and trans women: a comprehensive study had as objective consumptions and possessions in the process of gender affirmation in transvestites and trans women, based on the Strategies of the Extended Self. The article two, entitled The pain of beauty: vulnerability of trans consumers in the non-prescribed hormone consumption and non-surgical industrial silicone had as objective to further analyze the vulnerability of consumers and its reflex on the non-prescribed hormone consumption and non-surgical industrial silicone by transvestites and trans women. The article three, entitled Objectification, body commoditization and consumption of risk: the experience of transvestites and trans women in sex work that aimed to identify the ways in which occur the commoditization of the body in process of sexual objectification of oneself and others, in trans women and transvestites, and which risky consumptions are associated. Among the main findings, stand out, respectively, the existence of regular consumption items and possessions in each strategy of the Extended Self Theory; the occurrence of active negative responses after the experience of vulnerability due to the consumption of non-prescribed hormones and non-surgical industrial silicone, such as self-mutilation and the repeated search for industrial silicone; and risky consumption as consequences of the moderating action of the commoditization of the body in the objectification of oneself among transvestites and trans women sex workers. As a general result of this study, it is pointed out that consumption experiences between transvestites and trans women are surpassed by intersectionality, and that they can lead to different levels of vulnerability, with those in sexual work being more susceptible to physical and psychologic damage. Finally, the studys limitations, theoretical, methodological and managerial contributions and directions for future research are presented.
