Desde os anos 70, pesquisadores têm concentrado seus esforços cm identificar as condições ou fatores que facilitariam a integração de Sistemas de Informação nas empresas. A partir da década de 80 começaram a desenvolver e testar modelos que auxiliam em prever o uso dos sistemas. Em 1986, foi proposto um modelo que tinha por objetivo avaliar a aceitação de tecnologia pelo usuário. Desde então, esse modelo tem sido estudado e testado por muitos pesquisadores. Por mais de uma década o modelo tem oferecido um conjunto de variáveis para explicar a intenção dos usuários em adotar e usar a TI. Este trabalho pretende colaborar para o aprofundamento do conhecimento sobre a aceitação de tecnologia, através do estudo das peculariedades existentes na implementação de um sistema de informações em substituição a um processo de negócios realizado em papel. O estudo foi conduzido a partir de um levantamento bibliográfico e através de uma pesquisa descritiva. Como resultados foram identificadas evidências sobre a necessidade de realização de um estudo com enfoque sóciotécnico a fim de entender por que em alguns casos as organizações não obtêm o máximo potencial de uma tecnologia implementada.

Since the seventies, researchers have concentrate efforts to identify conditions or factors that would facilitate the integration of Information Systems (IS) in the companies. In the eighties they began to develop and to test models that assisted in doing the predictions ofthe systems use. In 1986, it was proposed a model whose objective was to evaluate the technology acceptance for the user, and since then this model has been studied and tested by many researchers. For more than one decade the model has been offering a group of variablcs to explain the users' intention in adopting and using Information Tecnology (IT). This thesis intends to collaborate for a better knowledge about the technology acceptance, doing it through the study ofthe peculiarities in implementing an information system that substitutes a business process accomplished in papers. It was led starting from a bibliographical study and through a descriptive research. As results were identifíed evidences for the need of a study with a social-technical focus, in order to understand why in some cases the organizations does not obtain the maximum potential of an implemented technology.
