A ocorrência de mudanças profundas, tanto na forma de produzir ciência como na incorporação do conhecimento a produção de bens e serviços, tem aumentado o interesse em aproximar empresas e institutos de pesquisa para transferência e uso do conhecimento. Nesse contexto, a cooperação entre empresa e instituto de pesquisa torna-se uma necessidade real para garantir não só o futuro da tecnologia, como também para potencializar conhecimentos e capacitações sempre crescentes, e com maior complexidade à medida que passam os anos. A presente pesquisa levou em consideração a importância da cooperação empresa e institutos de pesquisa no setor de telecomunicações no país, diante da configuração do novo modelo competitivo imposto ao setor, quando ocorreram as privatizações e em seguida a retração do crescimento do mercado, após um período de expansão iniciado em 1998. O estudo identificou como vem sendo desenvolvida a cooperação entre as empresas fabricantes de equipamentos de telecomunicações e os institutos de pesquisa. A metodologia utilizada no estudo foi uma pesquisa qualitativa descritiva com amostragem intencional junto aos institutos de pesquisa e as empresas fabricantes de equipamentos de telecomunicações no Brasil.

The occurrence of deep changes, as much in the form to produce science with incorporation knowledge that production of goods and services, has increased the interest in approaching companies and researchs institutes for transference and use knowledge. In this context, the cooperation between company and research institutes a real necessity becomes to not only guarantee the future of the technology, as also to potencialize the always increasing knowledge and qualifications, and with bigger complexity to the measure that the years pass. The present research took in consideration the importance of the cooperation company and researchs institutes in the sector of telecommunications in the country, ahead of the configuration of the new competitive model tax to the sector, when the privatizations and the after retraction of the growth of the market had occurred, after a period of expansion initiated in 1998. The study it identified as it comes being developed the cooperation enters the companies equipment manufacturers of telecommunications and the researchs institutes. The methodology used in the study was a qualitative research with together intentional sampling to researchs institutes and the companies equipment manufacturers of telecommunications in Brazil.
