O desenvolvimento de novos produtos (DNP) movimenta grandes somas de dinheiro anualmente nas organizações, tanto nos investimentos feitos como nas perdas geradas pelo alto índice de insucesso neste tipo de iniciativa. Melhorar a gestão dos riscos neste tipo de projeto pode trazer grandes ganhos às empresas. Dentro deste tema de pesquisa há muitas lacunas ainda a serem preenchidas pelos pesquisadores. Esta tese buscou contribuir no preenchimento de algumas dessas lacunas. Este trabalho, estruturado no formato de três artigos, teve como objetivo aumentar o entendimento sobre este tema e propor modelos a serem testados na indústria. O primeiro artigo realizou uma revisão sistemática da literatura a fim de conhecer o estado atual da pesquisa sobre este tema. O artigo apresentou dois modelos, um com 63 fatores de risco de projetos de DNP e outro com 10 aspectos que podem atuar no potencial dos fatores de risco. O segundo artigo realizou um estudo de caso em uma empresa do setor automotivo e analisou a importância relativa dos fatores de risco em projetos de DNP com engenharia simultânea e as relações de causalidade desses fatores de risco. O terceiro artigo fez uma pesquisa de levantamento em bancos digitais no intuito de entender a importância relativa dos fatores de risco em projetos de DNP nessas instituições e também, fez comparações estatísticas sobre a variação dessa importância relativa em diferentes amostras. Os resultados desta tese contribuem com a pesquisa sobre riscos em projetos de DNP ao apresentar a situação da pesquisa sobre o tema e os modelos gerados, que poderão direcionar pesquisadores em várias vertentes do tema.

New product development (NPD) moves large sums of money annually in organizations, both in investments made and in losses generated by the high rate of failure in this type of initiative. Improving risk management in this type of project can bring big gains to companies. Within this research theme there are many gaps still to be filled by researchers. This thesis sought to contribute to filling some of these gaps. This work, structured in the format of three articles, aimed to increase the understanding of this topic and propose models to be tested in the industry. The first article carried out a literature systematic review in order to know the current state of research on this topic. The article presented two models, one with 63 risk factors for NPD projects and the other with 10 aspects that can act on the potential of risk factors. The second article carried out a case study in a company in the automotive sector and analyzed the relative importance of risk factors in NPD projects with concurrent engineering and the causal relationships of these risk factors. The third article carried out a survey of digital banks in order to understand the relative importance of risk factors in NPD projects in these institutions and also made statistical comparisons on the variation of this relative importance in different samples. The results of this thesis contribute to research on risks in NPD projects by presenting the status of research on the subject and the models generated, which will be able to guide researchers in various aspects of the subject.
