Abstract in English
This work studies the effects of measures of social distancing due to covid-19 on the Brazilian labor market, in particular, on the prevalence of tasks. Using the model tasks created by Autor, Levy and Murnane (2003), occupations performed in Brazil, based on the Classificação Brasileira de Ocupações (CBO), were categorized according to the typification of the aforementioned model. Using data from the quarterly PNAD Contínua, the results obtained so far indicate that the professions with the greatest potential to be performed through home office according to the model of Dingel e Neiman (2020), in fact, experienced a smaller drop in the period starting in the first quarter of 2020. The results obtained also indicate that, despite the enormous initial impact on the labor market, the pandemic was not able to change the trajectory that was previously observed in the demand and supply of skills in Brazil.
