O objetivo deste estudo é investigar alguns fatores de marketing relacionado com o sucesso e o fracasso no lançamento de novos produtos da indústria de processamento de alimentos, no Estado de São Paulo. As duas seguintes proposições foram testadas neste estudo: Proposição 1: "quanto maior for a quantidade de informações de marketing utilizadas na fase de desenvolvimento e lançamento de um novo produto, maior será a probabilidade de o produto ter sucesso". Proposição 2: "quanto mais atividades de marketing são utilizadas no lançamento estágio de um novo produto, maior é a probabilidade de o produto terá sucesso". Ambas as proposições foram parcialmente apoiadas com base em 37 casos em vinte e três empresas, obtendo 23 casos de sucesso e 14 de fracasso.

The purpose of this study is to investigate some marketing factors related with success and failure in the launching of new products of the food processing industry, São Paulo State. The two following propositions were tested in this study: Proposition 1: "the greater the amount of marketing information used in the stage of development and launching of a new product, higger the likelihood that the product will be succesful". Proposition 2: "the more marketing activities are used in the launching stage of a new product, the higger is the likelihood that the product will be succesful". Both propositions were partially supported based on 37 cases in twenty-three companies, obtaining 23 succesful cases and 14 failures.
