Abstract in English
The emergence of agtechs in Brazil is growing, and the ecosystem supporting these startups has highly qualified institutions. There are several innovation communities spread across the Brazilian territory that foster innovation and entrepreneurship. One of these is the AgTech Valley, also called Vale do Piracicaba, located in the city of Piracicaba in the interior of the State of São Paulo. Generally, innovation ecosystems exist to fill the lack of support, offer support services, generate business opportunities and form a relationship network between different players, whether other entrepreneurs, corporations, universities and/or research centers. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the elements of the AgTech Valley Innovation Ecosystem in relation to the development of startups, based on the specific objectives: (a) to characterize the innovation ecosystem in Agtechs in Piracicaba-SP, based on the profile of startups; (b) identify the strong pillars of the AgTech Valley innovation ecosystem, such as an institutional environment; (c) identify the existing components of the AgTech Valley innovation ecosystem in relation to business development, as evidenced by the stages of agtech's development (ideation, operation, traction and scale up). To achieve these goals, a survey was carried out through a questionnaire with the actors involved in the ecosystem, in order to measure opinions, reactions, habits and attitudes. Thus, the results were presented in a descriptive way as a form of understanding the correlations and characteristics of the analyzed phenomena. The results showed that the most influential pillars in the AgTech Valley innovation ecosystem are entrepreneurial culture and support systems. On the other hand, the pillars with less influence according to the respondents' perception are public policies and financing and funds.
