Abstract in English
The history of the peasantry in Brazil reveals episodes of violence against traditional communities and negligence of the state in the public management of rural areas. In this context, the environmental sanitation deficit is one of the central factors in the challenges of promoting public health and well-being. Faced with these challenges, social technology has gained ground in recent decades, especially in the countries of the global south and in Latin America. More than a technique, social technology can be a libertarian and emancipatory movement, a true process of building community autonomy. For this, environmental education processes are fundamental, so that technology leaves the obvious and reaches other perspectives on the complexity of territories and life. The field research developed in the district of Tupi in Piracicaba/SP produced a critical analysis of the interventionist process, comprising the facts, narratives, and impressions generated by the researcher and the university extension group, as well as their relationship in the participatory construction with the leaders of the community, about the main concepts of the research and problematizing themes that emerged in the process, as well as the subjective elements that qualify a conception of autonomy committed to the community and emancipatory sense.
