Abstract in English
The raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) is a perennial plant of temperate climate, of growing commercial interest in Brazil. The cultivars available to Brazilian producers are old and not very productive when compared to those used in other countries. The aim of this work was to carry out controlled crosses between three free cultivars available in Brazil (‘Heritage’, ‘Salmon’ e ‘Golden Bliss’), with a superior accession (‘Frutopia C5’), seeking for superior progenies when compared to the parents in relation to agronomic characteristics, mainly of production and fruit quality. After performing the crosses (‘Heritage’ x ‘Frutopia C5’ - HF, ‘Salmon’ x ‘Frutopia C5’ - SF e ‘Golden Bliss’ x ‘Frutopia C5’ - GF), seeds were treated and germinated, and three progenies with 80 hybrids from each cross were taken to the field in São Bento do Sapucaí, SP. The hybrids were selected using principal component analysis (PCA), based on the variables of total production and average fruit mass, moving to a new evaluation cycle with 30 HF, 24 SF and 27 GF hybrids. In the second production cycle, the plants were taken to Piracicaba, SP and evaluated for production characteristics and physicochemical quality of the fruits, in addition to colorimetry characteristics. Six hybrids from the HF progeny, four from the SF progeny and five from the GF progeny were selected by PCA. In the third and last production cycle, the plants were multiplied in five replications and evaluated in comparison with their parents, in São Bento do Sapucaí. PCA and test of means were used for the final evaluation of the hybrids and parents. For total production, the hybrids HF-072, GF- 163, GF-219, HF-032, SF- 143, GF-195 and SF-110 were superior to the parents and other hybrids. For average fruit mass, SF-096 and GF-163 were superior to all others. In general, superior hybrids were developed when compared to the parents, useful for the raspberry breeding in Brazil.
