Produtividade

Can “protein hydrolysate” and “seaweed extract” biostimulants modulate nitrogen metabolism in soybean?

Productivity
Abstract in English
Biostimulant treatment has been a tool in crop management. The application of these products has been credited with increasing nutrient assimilation and product quality, and increasing productivity. Soy is one of the main commodities in the world, and its productivity is strongly influenced by nitrogen nutrition, which in Brazil is supported by biological correction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of protein hydrolyzate biostimulants and algae extract Ascophyllum nodosum on nitrogen metabolism in soybean plants. In the greenhouse, soybean plants treated with algae extract have higher leaf and stem biomass, while the protein hydrolyzate treatment increased root dry mass compared to untreated ones. The components of complete nitrogen metabolism affected were amino acids in the leaf, increased with a foliar application of seaweed extract, however reduced levels of ureides were found in the xylem sap with the application of biostimulants based on seaweed extract and protein hydrolyzate. All tested biostimulants increased crop yield components, with grain production being increased by up to 28% with the application of algae extract. The results found results that biomass production and grain production are stimulated with the application of biostimulants.
