Abstract in English
Lily (Lilium sp) is a flowering species very appreciated for having flowers with expressive beauty and a great variety of colors, and is currently considered one of the main cut flowers marketed. Postharvest conservation of flowers aims to employ technologies to assist in maintaining floral quality and longevity. The present work aimed to evaluate pulsing solutions for the postharvest conservation of lily 'Nova Scotia' and 'Litouwen'. Two experiments were carried out. In the first, we tested pulsing solutions with 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) and sucrose for the postharvest conservation of Lilium 'Nova Scotia'. In the second, we tested treatment time with pulsing solution with 6-benzylaminopurine and sucrose, for postharvest conservation of Lilium 'Litouwen'. The experiment design was complete randomized in a factorial scheme, with 5 treatments for 4 days of evaluation for the first experiment and 4 treatments for 5 days of evaluation for the second experiment. Variation of fresh mass, solution uptake, relative water content, tepal and leaf coloration, qualitative analysis and longevity were evaluated in both experiments. Reduced and total carbohydrate content were assessed in the first experiment and the respiratory rate in the second. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and means were compared by Tukey test at 5% probability. The results obtained from the first experiment showed that the application of BAP and sucrose helps to maintain the postharvest quality of lily 'Nova Scotia' inflorescences, as it promoted greater gain in fresh mass and greater longevity, even at the lowest doses. The second experiment proved that pulsing containing BAP and sucrose for the shortest period (6h) is sufficient to maintain the postharvest quality of lily 'Litouwen' inflorescences. Therefore, the application of pulsing containing BAP and sucrose in lily inflorescences prior to the transport can be considered as an alternative to the postharvest treatments currently used by producers of this cut flower.
