Abstract in English
This dissertation discusses the work period and free time of elementary school teachers in the private school system of Ribeirão Preto, SP. in the face of the new forms of work organization resulting from neoliberal rationality. The aim was to answer whether there was/is an expropriation of teachers' free time, due to the insertion of information and communication technologies (ICTs) at work, before, during and after the implementation of emergency remote teaching, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The research was guided by historical-dialectical materialism, with the centrality of work in the capitalist mode of production as a reference point. Through a bibliographic and empirical study, we sought to capture the locus of teaching work, its meanings and specifications, in order to understand the working time of private school basic education teachers. As a result, the research found that the non-working time of primary school teachers at private schools in Ribeirão Preto, SP. was invaded by the use of information-digital technologies in working relationships, which was accentuated after the period of working remotely. In addition, it was observed that teaching work is suffering from the precariousness and emptying of its function, resulting from the new forms of work organization - the fruit of a neoliberalized capitalism, whose policies have been in place in Brazil since the 1990s.
